Pop-Up Salons: Beauty Bus creates Pop-Up Salons where our clients receive a variety of complimentary beauty and grooming services in a setting that promotes support and serenity.
Beauty Series: Beauty Bus provides consistent beauty and grooming services to patients and caregivers at partner hospitals and health centers on a weekly or monthly basis.
Home Visits: In partnership with the ALS Network, we offer complimentary in-home beauty services to individuals living with ALS and their dedicated caregivers—bringing comfort, joy, and a sense of normalcy during challenging times.
Bag of Beauty Program: Beauty Bus gives complimentary Bags of Beauty filled with pampering products to remind our clients that they deserve to look and feel beautiful.

WORK LOCATION AND CONDITIONS: This position works a minimum of 6 hours a week in various work locations throughout the Greater Los Angeles area as required. Exact days and times mutually agreed. Regular work hours are 9:30am to 5.00pm, one day a week.

CLASSIFICATION: This position is part-time hourly non-exempt employee of Beauty Bus, is employed at-will, and reports to the Executive Director and/or the Program Team Manager. As an employee of Beauty Bus, the Beauty Professional is subject to the policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook. The licensed Cosmetologist should be passionate about using their skills to serve others.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Beauty Bus Home Visits Beauty Professional, you’ll provide complimentary haircuts, hairstyling, barber haircuts, neck trims, bear trims, hand and nail treatments in the homes of ALS patients and caregivers. This meaningful work supports families dealing with life-limiting illness and helps them feel seen, cared for, and confident.

Monitor appointments, prior and during Home Visits Day, through the Square App.
Deliver up to 4 x 1-hour in-home beauty services one day a week (haircuts, styling, barbering, neck rims, beard trims, hand and nail treatments) for ALS Network patients and their caregivers.
If applicable, multiple services can be delivered to the client and their caregiver/family members within the same hour
In the event of a cancelation or a gap between appointments, you may be asked;
To perform general/ other duties at the Beauty Bus office
Go to a preapproved location to offer your services (Senior care facility, Cancer Support Community centers or Hospital)
Deliver Beauty Bus promotional material to local salons to recruit volunteers
Maintain high standards of hygiene, safety, and professionalism during every visit.
Make sure Beauty Bus electronic waivers are signed by the client or their caregiver.
Travel to and from client homes safely and reliably within your zone.
Schedule and visit the Beauty Bus office monthly to restock supplies and maintain your service kit.
Ensure a respectful, comfortable, and positive experience for clients facing health and mobility challenges.

Required Qualifications:

Experienced and Licensed Cosmetologist in good standing, able to provide one or more services: Hair, Nail, Esthetic, and/or Makeup services.
Minimum of 1–2 years of experience providing beauty services.
Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to multiple client locations.
Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
Passion for Beauty Bus work and mission, understanding, and responsive to issues of individuals and caregivers dealing with serious illnesses.
Empathy, patience, and strong communication skills.
Willingness to work with medically fragile individuals and provide care in sensitive settings.
Work independently - a self-starter, able to identify initial and next steps needed.
Must be non-judgmental and able to respect diverse cultural/religious values and lifestyles.
Positive attitude with a customer service mindset, excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to relate and interact with a diverse clientele.
Demonstrate the highest level of personal and ethical standards.

What We Offer:

A regular one day a week shift of 7.5 hours from 9:30am to 5pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch and one paid 10-minute break.
Hourly pay: $28/ hour
$100 monthly gas and $25 monthly mobile service stipend
