Litigation Legal Secretary

Direct Counsel is seeking a Litigation Legal Secretary to join a well-regarded, full-service California law firm. This is a full-time, on-site position based in the firm’s San Francisco office, with the potential for a hybrid schedule (4 days in-office, 1 day remote) after the first 90 days. The ideal candidate will bring strong litigation experience, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage attorney calendars, including scheduling conferences, depositions, travel, and court appearances.
Prepare and format legal documents for state and federal court filings, including e-filing.
Coordinate case preparation activities such as discovery, mediation, arbitration, and hearings.
Draft correspondence, schedule court reporters and expert witnesses, and prepare visual aids for court presentations.
Maintain client files, manage deadlines, and ensure timely handling of incoming/outgoing communications.
Provide administrative support, including time entry, billing review, travel arrangements, and expense reports.
Answer and screen phone calls and emails professionally and efficiently.
Support a collegial team of litigation and labor & employment attorneys with a high level of discretion and attention to detail.

Qualifications:

7–10 years of experience as a litigation legal secretary in a law firm environment.
Strong knowledge of state and federal litigation procedures and trial processes.
Proficiency in court filing requirements, including e-filing and arbitration/mediation filings (e.g., AAA, JAMS).
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Excellent drafting, proofreading, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet multiple deadlines in a busy setting.
Strong client service focus and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Compensation:

Salary range: $75,000–$92,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
