The top salary range for this position currently reaches $60,260.16, PLUS, an excellent benefits package! PLEASE APPLY IMMEDIATELY.** Under direct supervision, performs clerical work associated with receiving, disbursing and accounting for cash involving the collection of payments made to the City; reviews billing information; performs customer service related work and other clerical work as assigned.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This is an entry-level class in the Cashier series performing a wide range of public assistance, and /or processing, cashiering, and clerical work. Generally, work is observed and reviewed both during performance and upon completion.DUTIES: Collect cash and check payments over the counter and in the mail. Receive and deposit cash and checks to a cash drawer and maintain a proper balance to the cash drawer. Tabulate opening and closing balances in the cash drawer and record cash received on a daily basis. Operate a cash register and post amounts received. Verify dates, fees, and signatures of checks/warrants received in payment of bills/fees.Assist the public by responding to questions in person or over the telephone. Refer questions/complaints to the proper authority. Operate a calculator or other office equipment, including a CRT terminal. Input and receive financial data records and information utilizing a CRT terminal. Maintain routine files of correspondence and records. Performs other related work as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to lift up to 15 pounds is required. Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, crouching and stooping in the performance of daily office activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine coordination in retrieving and entering data using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading work related documents and using the computer, and acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service.WORK ENVIRONMENT: Employee generally works indoors. Environment is generally clean with limited exposure to conditions such as dust, fumes, or odors.
