Pay Rate: $58-$63/hour
On behalf of our client, a leading university hospital and healthcare system in Los Angeles, CA, we are seeking an IT
Project Manager with deep experience in health informatics and project management, particularly in clinical research and academic medical settings. This role will support the planning, execution, and oversight of cross-functional research data projects, ensuring compliance with institutional, regulatory, and technical standards.
Responsibilities: - Lead the planning, execution, reporting, and close-out of healthcare IT and research data projects under the guidance of the Portfolio Manager.
- Serve as the central liaison between clinical researchers, data scientists, and project partners to support data acquisition and utilization.
- Provide project management support for major initiatives including BioData Catalyst.
- Manage project activities in a matrixed, cross-functional environment and ensure alignment with program goals.
- Ensure compliance with policies related to contract relations, procurement, and fiscal planning.
- Prepare and submit program reports (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual).
- Provide logistical and administrative support for meetings, including agenda creation, minutes, and tracking of action items.
- Compose business and scientific communications for stakeholders at various levels including Keck School of Medicine and the broader university.
- Manage and maintain status reporting and communications with internal and external stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:- BA/BS in a relevant field.
- At least five (5) years of experience in health informatics project management, preferably in an academic or clinical setting.
- Experience working within or in coordination with a Healthcare IT Project Management Office.
- Proficient in building business cases, ROI reports, and cost-benefit analyses.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and electronic data capture tools.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements, project management methodologies, and business requirements gathering.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience with clinical trials research or working in an academic medical environment.
- Background in research budget management.
- Experience with HL7 CDA and/or FHIR interfaces.
- Familiarity with research data tools and platforms such as REDCap, OMOP, OHDSI, and Cerner.
- Experience with AWS cloud services in a healthcare context.
- Familiarity with healthcare data standards and ontologies (ICD, CPT, LOINC, MedDRA).
Key Skills and Abilities:- Demonstrated ability to lead multiple concurrent projects with diverse teams.
- Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
- Technical knowledge across clinical, analytic, and data engineering teams.
- Deep understanding of EMR, public health, and research workflows.
- Proficient in project management tools: MS Project, MS Excel, MS Teams, Visio, Word.
- Knowledge of secure virtual/cloud-based research environments (IRB, HIPAA compliance).
- Highly organized with a meticulous attention to detail.
Bonus:Experience with Cerner, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and familiarity with public health data exchange standards is highly desirable.
