Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Welder to join our team. The Welder will be responsible for performing high-quality welding tasks. This role involves welding, fabricating, and assembling metal structures and piping systems according to specifications, codes, and standards. The welder ensures that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welding and Fabrication:
- Perform various types of welding, including MIG, TIG, and arc welding, on different metals such as carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy steels.
- Fabricate and assemble metal structures, piping systems, and components according to blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Ensure all welds meet or exceed industry standards and project requirements.
- Inspection and Testing:
- Conduct visual inspections of welds and completed work to ensure quality and compliance with specifications.
- Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) such as ultrasonic, radiographic, and magnetic particle testing to verify the integrity of welds.
- Identify and repair defects in welds, such as cracks, porosity, and other discontinuities.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols, guidelines, and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety devices as required.
- Ensure all welding activities comply with local, state, and national codes and standards.
- Maintenance and Repairs:
- Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and tools to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment and machinery used in the welding process.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with other welders, fabricators, and refinery personnel to complete projects on time and within budget.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate work and resolve any issues.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior welders or apprentices as needed.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all welding work performed, including welding logs, inspection reports, and material usage.
- Provide detailed reports on work progress, issues identified, and corrective actions taken.
- Assist in the preparation of project documentation and ensure all records are up to date.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational welding certification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of welding experience, with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
- Proficient in MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques.
- Strong knowledge of metals, fabrication methods, and recycling industry equipment.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
- Skilled in operating grinders, cutting torches, shears, and other fabrication tools.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
