Our established boutique law firm in Woodland Hills, specializing in insurance defense, personal injury, and general civil litigation, has an immediate opening for a motivated Legal Secretary to join our dynamic team.
Responsibilities:
Provide administrative support to 2–3 attorneys, including managing calendars, scheduling appointments, court appearances, and depositions.
Draft, proofread, and file legal documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery responses, deposition notices, and other court filings.
Handle state and federal court filings, including e-filing, ensuring compliance with California court rules.
Assist with discovery, scheduling depositions, drafting deposition notices, law and motion, and comprehensive trial preparation, including assembling exhibits and coordinating logistics.
Communicate professionally with clients, courts, and opposing counsel via phone, email, and written correspondence.
Organize and maintain case files with accuracy and accessibility.
Perform additional administrative tasks to support firm operations.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a legal secretary in insurance defense, personal injury, or general civil litigation required.
Strong knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and document preparation.
Proven experience with state and federal court filing, e-filing, calendaring, discovery, law and motion, and trial preparation.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong academic credentials.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal software (e.g., case management systems like Clio).
Motivated self-starter with exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage a busy desk for multiple attorneys.
Team player capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of California court rules and procedures is a plus.
